Sinhala and Tamil New Year


 The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is one of the most important festivals in Sri Lanka. It is usually celebrated in April every year. This festival marks the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year. Sinhala and Tamil people celebrate this festival together with happiness. Families clean and decorate their houses before the New Year. On New Year day, people prepare traditional foods such as kiribath, kavum, and kokis. They follow the traditional times given in the New Year calendar. People wear new clothes and visit their relatives and friends. Elders give blessings to the younger members of the family. Children enjoy playing traditional New Year games. This festival helps people to strengthen family relationships and unity. It is a time of joy, peace, and new beginnings for everyone.

A Beautiful Step in My Kathak Journey

 My Kathak Gunguru Poojawa was another beautiful day in my dancing life. At first, I started dancing because my teacher encouraged me, but now I like Kathak very much. During the Gunguru Poojawa ceremony, I wore the gunguru for Kathak. After that, I also did my Praveshika exam. Dancing with gunguru is not an easy thing. When we dance wearing gunguru, our legs can hurt a lot. But I really like the sound of the gunguru when I dance. It makes the dance more beautiful and special. That day is a day I will never forget in my life. It was a great opportunity to take another step forward in my dancing journey. I am very excited to learn more about Kathak in the future.

  Anuradhapura is a very famous historical place in Sri Lanka. It is a very old city. Anuradhapura was the first kingdom of Sri Lanka. There are many temples in Anuradhapura.Some of them are Ruwanweliseya, Jetavanaramaya, and Abhayagiriya ect. There are also many tanks in Anuradhapura, such as Tissa Wewa, Kala Wewa, and Nuwara Wewa ect. Lots of people visit Anuradhapura every year. Because of that, Anuradhapura is a very important historical place in our country.
